What the Future? is the most inspirational and hands-on festival of youth employment in Australia. It connects young people with real opportunities for employment, paid trials, work experience, career inspiration and even entrepreneurship.
The 3 July festival features some of South Australia's most exciting, authentic industries and brands. Over 100 stallholders (Activators) will bring interactive activities offering a window into their profession. Young people will get a feel for places and industries where they might like to work, jobs they might enjoy doing, and futures they might create. In a pressure-free environment they can get hands-on to see what inspires them.
Our Activators are employers and entrepreneurs passionate about creating opportunities. And they have jobs or some kind of workplace experience to offer. They come to talk, listen and understand their workers of the future.
ours is a social enterprise model
In 2022 we ran a hugely successful pilot event with major partners Operation Flinders, the Specialised Assistance School for Youth and the Adelaide Showground. At WTF? 2022 attendees could try their hand at DJing, podcasting, changing a truck tyre, and using fire truck equipment. There were apprenticeship and casual work opportunities available; they could even join a yoga session and learn about careers in wellbeing.
WTF? is particularly ideal for those facing challenges with school, with learning difficulties, or those who simply don’t intend following a traditional trajectory from school to work.
